Author
Amanda Silva
Amanda Silva is a mom on a mission to teach mindfulness and emotional regulation to children through the power of books.
Her background in design and creative writing, coupled with her personal parenting experiences and a love of psychology, make her uniquely suited to write mental health focused children’s books.
Her first book, “Nana and Me and the Tree”, illustrated by the talented Jennica Lounsbury, explored the process of grief through the eyes of a child.
In 2021, she released “STOP and Read this Book”, an interactive book that helps children to calm themselves using the 5-4-3-2-1 sensory grounding technique. The book sold over 5,000 copies and is now used in many homes, therapy offices, and classrooms to help children calm their bodies using their five senses. The sequel, STOP and Breathe this book, applies the same interactive style of the original to teach mindful breathing exercises and introduces the concept of breath work to kids through a playful reading experience.
Through her books, Amanda strives to create tools that parents, teachers and therapy professionals can use to foster positive mental health practices in children. She cherishes the opportunity to meet her readers and is available for school visits and book signing events.
